The Rebirth of The Company of Owls
As you know, The Company of Owls has been in flux over the past couple years. We don't know what "The Calm at the Edge of the Sea's" future holds, or if there is a future at all. Recently Booth Feller, Brian Zarin and myself have been working on an acting company. More information will become available soon. I present to you the latest facet from everyones favorite psychos.

sweating like jason robards
Today the temperature reached 100 degrees in Echo Park. I watched baseball in bed all day long, sweat pouring from my hair, salt dripping from my nose to lips. I'm definitely a man by taste. Hunger was inside of me, but it's easy to ignore you're body when you're body is nothing more than a wet flesh suit. I can't think to write. There is a fiesta across the street. It's a birthday party by the look of it, and by the familiar happy birthday music rippling from the Mariachi's. It sounds like birthday music, but it's different. It's mexican.
I'm sitting here in the 100 degree heat at 8 o clock at night. I'm lake of sweat. My eyes are perspiring. My lips are stained red from a half bottle of wine, they are cracked and dry. If I had a gun I'd look like Warren Oates in a Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. Today, sitting very close to the mexican border in southern california, I am a Sam Peckinpah film. There is nothing left but my body, the mexican birthday party, the wine, and my mind shooting at 60 frames per second in the Los Angeles heat. Slow Motion.

milton loves slip n slide . so do we!
I guess Milton loves the slip n slide. So do we. Maybe he'll come to our next S&S party in Burbank. Wouldn't that be awesome?
Apparently, Milton Bradley just wanted to introduce himself to the tarpaulin. During a rain delay of nearly 90 minutes that preceded the postponement of Saturday's game between the Mets and Rangers, Bradley led a charge of six Rangers into an impromptu session of Slip 'N' Slide on the rain-slicked field cover at Shea Stadium. Saturday's game will be played as part of a doubleheader today beginning at 12:10 p.m. Bradley, Kinsler, Gerald Laird and Josh Hamilton broke out of the Rangers' dugout. They were soon joined by Josh Rupe and Michael Young. Only a little more than $100 million in guaranteed contracts. They slid about five times, eliciting a chant of "Let's go Rangers," from the fans still left at Shea. General manager Jon Daniels held his breath, and when everybody got up unhurt, he breathed a sigh of relief.

wall of flame
PARADISE, Calif. (AP) - Strong, erratic winds that had been complicating efforts to fight wildfires in Northern California calmed down Friday, but firefighters were still struggling to get the upper hand on one stubborn fire that scorched more than 31 square miles and threatened 4,600 structures.
The weather reprieve was predicted to be brief, as winds were expected to pick up later Friday and possibly push the flames closer to Paradise, a town of about 30,000 residents some 90 miles north of Sacramento.
The blaze already had destroyed at least 20 homes. Authorities on Thursday had closed all roads to Paradise and ordered 9,000 people to leave.
One elderly woman, whose identity was not immediately released, suffered a heart attack during the evacuation and died, said Ruben Grijalva, director of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Cal Fire spokesman Joshpae White was observing the fire Thursday when it closed in. At one point, he said he was forced to drive through a wall of flames.
"It looked like a million blowtorches across the road," White said. "We were taking significant heat. The heat was so intense, the windshield began cracking."
In recent days, hot temperatures, steady winds and tinder-dry vegetation have fueled a series of destructive blazes in the northern heartland of California.
To the south of Paradise, a fire in the Santa Cruz mountains threatened homes.
Nine hundred firefighters caught a break Friday as cooler temperatures and increased cloud cover helped them gain some ground on the 1 square mile blaze.
Cyndie Norman talks on her phone after being evacuated from Indian Springs Rd. as firefighters work...
More than 1,500 residents of Bonny Doon, a heavily forested town about 10 miles northwest of Santa Cruz, have been told to leave since the fire broke out Wednesday afternoon. Among them was James Eason, 28, who lives with his quadriplegic father in a yurt, a nearly uninsulated wooden-framed structure covered in canvas.
"It's stressful and frustrating. It makes you anxious not knowing if you're going to have a place to go back to," James Eason said. "All of a sudden, with the fire, the yurt doesn't seem so bad. We've started to like it a whole lot."
Another wildfire had charred more than 29 square miles in the Los Padres National Forest in Monterey County. It was nearly 40 percent contained by Friday.
In southeastern Colorado, a fire that started on a military training site jumped the Purgatoire River, a natural fire break, and was threatening eight nearby ranches.
Nearly 250 firefighters were battling the blaze in the remote and rugged country. It had burned over 65 square miles and was not controlled at all, with gusting winds hampering efforts for containment.
Across the country, authorities in North Carolina issued an air quality advisory for Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Durham through Friday after smoke from a wildfire burning in a wildlife refuge drifted westward. The lightning-sparked blaze has burned more than 60 square miles in and around the Pocosin Lakes Wildlife Refuge, and was only 40 percent contained.
Authorities say without a massive rainstorm, firefighters can do little to extinguish the blaze and put an end to the smoky weather.

more on millionaire milton bradley's bad attitude.
i love this dude. so many people talk shit on bradley. he's such a bad ass, it's incredible. just hold it together millionaire. i got your back and so does tom mahoney of silverlake.
here is how wednesday's incident went down.
"It was a conversation about how Josh Hamilton has turned his life around and has been accountable for his mistakes," Lefebvre told The Associated Press. "Right now, it seems like the baseball world and fans are rooting for him. ... It doesn't seem like Milton Bradley has done the same thing in his life."
Bradley, who leads the league with a .333 batting average and a .629 slugging percentage, said he wasn't looking to physically confront Lefebvre.
"I get tired of people only choose to talk about negativity," he said. "People would automatically assume that if I went to meet that guy that we were going to start fighting. That would be completely out of my character. I never had a fight in my life."
Lefebvre commented about Bradley taunting fans above the dugout and in right field.
"I interact with the fans, but it's not anything malicious," Bradley said. "If anything it is malicious back to me, and I go out and play well and rub it back in their face. I have fun with it."

milton bradley is back!
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Milton Bradley stormed out of the Texas Rangers clubhouse after an 11-5 victory Wednesday night over Kansas City and bounded up four flights of stairs looking for Royals television announcer Ryan Lefebvre.
Milton Bradley
Bradley
Bradley, who was the designated hitter, heard what he considered derogative remarks made by Lefebvre on a TV in the Rangers clubhouse.
General manager Jon Daniels and manager Ron Washington were close behind and intercepted Bradley before he reached Lefebvre.
"I don't want to get necessarily into the details," Daniels said. "He was upset. Someone who doesn't know him was passing judgment on TV. It was obvious he was hurt by the comments."
Bradley never reached Lefebvre, although he was within about 20 feet of him in the TV booth before being led back down to the clubhouse.
"There was no incident," Daniels said.
Upon returning to the clubhouse, Bradley screamed at teammates and broke down in tears.
"I'm tired of people bringing me down," Bradley said. "It wears on you. I love you guys, all you guys. I'm strong, but I'm not that strong. All I want to do is play baseball and make a better life for my kid than I had."
Several of Bradley's teammates consoled him after he calmed down.
Lefebvre, who is the son of former major league manager Jim Lefebvre, said he met with Daniels and Washington about his on-the-air comments, but did not talk to Bradley. Lefebvre said the comments were intended to praise Josh Hamilton, who missed nearly four years of professional baseball with cocaine and alcohol additions, rather than tear down Bradley.
The oft-injured Bradley has a history of losing his temper.
He slammed a plastic bottle at the feet of a fan in the right-field seats at Dodger Stadium in 2004 after someone threw it on the field. With San Diego in the pennant chase last September, he tore the ACL in his right knee when he was spun to the ground by Padres manager Bud Black, who was trying to keep him from an umpire.
He was suspended for five games after slamming the bottle, and had a four-game suspension for tossing a bag of balls onto the field after an ejection. There was a dugout confrontation with Cleveland manager Eric Wedge during spring training in 2004 before getting traded to Los Angeles.
Bradley claimed umpire Mike Winters baited the player into the confrontation and directed a profanity at him last September. Winters was suspended the final five days of the regular season and didn't work the postseason.
"We weren't singling out Milton Bradley," Lefebvre said. "We also spent a lot of time complimenting Milton Bradley, but that's not what he heard when he was in the clubhouse.
"We weren't tearing up Milton Bradley. I told [Washington and Daniels] this wasn't a Milton Bradley rip session, but just based on the pictures we've seen in this series of him walking to the dugout all the way to right field, dropping his bat, making gestures to the fans in right field and above the dugout and taunting them. He's the only person in baseball I know that does that type of stuff."

joe beimel is cool
joe beimel has gained "cult status" as a dodgers middle reliever. a couple years back, while in new york, the night before a playoff game, joe cut his hand, drunk at a bar, and wasn't able to pitch the whole series. a series in which they were swept. la hated him for 6 months, but now, he's the bee's knees. he was also voted in for a bobblehead this year, which blows my mind.
notownts: What kind of music do you like?
Beimel: Pretty much listen to everything. When I say everything, I mean everything except techno or death metal, but my first love is punk rock. I grew up listening to punk rock, so I'd have to say out of everything, that's probably my favorite.
9000: How does it feel to be selected by the fans for the bobblehead promotion?
Beimel: It feels outstanding. It's just one of those things that as a player, you don't really ever expect but it's very flattering. It's just something I never thought would happen. I think I told somebody this, that it was one of my guarantees in life like death and taxes. The third one for me was that I'd never have a bobblehead, so I guess you never say never.
bnkrboy: What's your song when you come out of the bullpen and why?
Beimel: I don't have one. It's Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, but they've only played it twice. I want God's Gonna Cut You Down by Johnny Cash, but they won't play that for me.
joe_dodger: Joe, what does your tattoo "Only God know why" mean?
Beimel: I guess it is what it is. Only God knows why certain things happen and you can't really explain it, but usually it's for the best.
cbg3: Do you choose to eat a strict diet during the season? What's conditioning like during the season?
Beimel: I don't have a strict diet. I lose a lot of weight during the season, so I eat whatever I can. It doesn't matter if it's healthy or not. Conditioning-wise, I don't like to run, so I do what the strength and conditioning guy suggests and I'll lift once in a while. But, I don't work out much during the season because my workouts are on the mound.
kayy911: Do you like playing as yourself in video games?
Beimel: I don't play baseball games in video games. I have a few times just to see what it's like, and it's definitely cool to see yourself or how they people who make the games perceive you. In all the games I've seen, I don't have a sinker and that's my main pitch, so that's kind of funny.
