This is one of the most brilliantly ACTED, WRITTEN, and DIRECTED films i've ever come across. It's almost unbearably brutal at times, long before American Psycho left it's mark. I'm not a reviewer, I won't say more. Just watch it if you get the chance.

Heath Ledger is gone

I really didn't believe it at first, when I heard that Heath Ledger died this morning. He seems far too successful to die. He's young, every girl love him, every Director wants him, he's starring in the latest Batman film. He's the top of the A-List. People like him don't die. Brad Renfro dies. He's been in trouble since he was a kid. He was on the left hand path. You expect that he's on his way out, actually surprised when he did die that he was still alive the day before.

Heath Ledger is a different kind of death. It sits inside you for a couple days, resonating, dimming the brightness of the soul. I don't understand why this happens. I don't know him, don't care about him, I've never thought about him for more than a split minute. It's like a light went off somewhere, and you just can't pinpoint where it was, but the the world seems a little darker, and a little less interesting. Maybe that's just me.

Strange. Especially since we'll be seeing him play the ultra drugged up looking Joker very soon. The light of him left is projected through celluloid, cinema is immortal.

Sarabeth Tucek

Sarabeth Tucek's album is finally out and it's brilliant. Gloomy and heartbreaking and beautiful. I highly suggest getting it. I interviewed Sarabeth a couple years ago on her life and this album, so I am going to repost it. The song "Home" sounds like it traveled from beyond Karen Carpenter's grave.

Here is the interview.

LM: So you’re working on an album with Ethan Johns, how is that going, being that it’s your debut?

ST: the record is going really well. Ethan is great, very inspired and soulful. he has added alot of dimension to the material through various instruments and he's a great player too so i not only have a great producer and engineer but a musician that can exercise his ideas. it is also being co-produced by the wonderful Luther Russell.

LM: “Something for you” is really a beautiful song. How did you and Brian Jonestown Massacre hookup, and is Anton really the lunatic he’s made out to be?

ST: i'm glad you like SOMETHING FOR YOU(SEER). it will be on my record. i have known Anton for a long time and he always really liked that song and asked if he could cover it for the EP. i sing it in DIG right before he kicks that poor guy in the head. is Anton a lunatic? hmmm, well, there is probably enough info out there on him now for anyone to answer that one. recently, i was with a group of people who were talking about him and one person said "Anton's a lunatic" and then someone else said " Anton's a dick" and then, in conclusion, someone said " Anton's a lunadick" so.... i dunno.

LM: If you could build a time machine that could only go back in time before the 20th century, where would you go, and who would you meet?

ST: if i could go back? uh, i wish i could go back and retrieve all the money i've spent on alcohol but before the 20th century, i guess maybe before there were people. perhaps, roaming the earth like a big peaceful platypus. just eating and walking. i'm lazy. i guess i would probably want to meet another nice and lazy herbivore or maybe a carnivore, if i was bored.

Nothing can stop us.

Necromantic Organ Opera

Directed by Camerin Kelly Burns
Director of Photography Nick Trikonis
Music by Lantern Black Lodge
Filmed on the Permanent Set at Calarts in Valencia California in the spring of 2000.

So far, so good.

It's Tuesday. A little tired from acting exorcise with Brian. My Brother Kyle is in town, he's on his way over, we're going to get breakfast at Millie's, on his way from Burbank. Looking for a job, something simple, restaurant, bar, whatever. "There Will Be Blood" is my favorite movie in a long time, saw that coming from a mile away. About to start writing a new script. It's going to be brutal.

in the wake of poseidon

the storm continues, although it's expected to break mid day tomorrow, being thursday. kyle and I are heading down to los angeles, back to the grind, through the gates of mordor. 2nd lunches for all.

fort bragg has been beautiful and i'll miss everything about it.

genuine creativity summoned from the abyss

the theorectical portion of winter has come to it's end, pull the substance up, work with it, make practice reality.

The only Poseidon i'm speaking of is the film by Wolfgang Peterson starring Kurt Russell. Yea, we needed a storm movie and A PERFECT STORM has been played out up here in Fort Bragg. The ocean is crashing, i'm soaked from the rain, and we are about to embark on a cruise that I'm sure we'll soon forget. It's all in good fun.

1.06.2008

Soon will be forgotten..

The waves are quiet today, lost for oceanic words, Poseidon is at rest, the creatures of the sea rejoice, peace is rare in January's celestial influence.

Mother and Shea are heading home, back to Magalia, where power ceases to be, for the storm passed to the higher lands leaves deep wounds in the mountain side like teeth marks on a dry bone. Mud takes the trees, the trees take the electricity, the electricity takes the road, the road takes us home, and home is where we are left without power, sitting in front of a fire, boiling water for tea in a black kettle, silent light bulbs that only Tesla could excite, that's comfort.

I don't want to be heard from. I'll come back to the world, but I'll still feel and always be a stranger in a strange land, just need to learn to gork or jork, can't remember the term, really doesn't matter, for you won't see it happen.

Skeleton ship, and phantom wind don't bother us here.

Grey haired Mendocino seen a many darker day.

The sun, moon, stars, trees, all useless to us without love.

pat garret and billy the kid

I've talked about this film before, and I'm really bringing nothing new to the plate, but I just want to say "Pat Garret and Billy the Kid" is one of the coolest, strangest, darkest, and most bad ass westerns of all time. I'm not even a huge Bob Dylan fan, but his acting skates by with 8.0's and the soundtrack is incredible. But who really makes the film re-visitable and sharp as a Peckinpah gunshot is James Coburn. Anti-hero, womanizer, to the t villainous sheriff, drunk, die hard, nothing to lose, and perfect candidate to sum up the end of the wild west. He drinks, he dies, he gets his dick washed in a pan of suds by 4 different woman and then parties for an hour, goes down stairs and rides across the desert to meet destiny, being Billy's death.

Peckinpah was a genius. I don't think anyone doubts that, but I will state it again. A genius and one of the most influential Director's of all time.

By the way, I heard he pissed on MGM's Final Cut of the film, making him all that more true to the point. Don't fuck with outlaws, whether it be out in Ol' Mexico, or here in dying Hollywood.

dread storm vs. the farm front

A dreaded storm is coming. Batteries, flashlights, gasoline, canned goods, candles, the list goes on again. The farm yard cares not in psychedelia. My brain slowed down after Kundalini. Dr. Siri Gian Singh Khalsa was our instructor and prayer guru. 3rd eye clean.

kings cup 2007

Since it's commencement, New Years in Fort Bragg has always joyed drunken men's jolly holiday hearts. Wandering naked through dark attics, fireworks in the fog, cliffside wine tasting on highlander point, king's cup follies, the list goes on and on. My liver is pained, I know I'm not the only one.

nye ranch 2008

I'm still enjoying time away from HELL in Fort Bragg, Ca. Detoxifying, might go to Kundalini Yoga with my brother Kyle later. A huge storm came in, and we're expecting to be powerless for a couple days. I can't wait.

My best of 2007 is coming soon and so are some Holiday Highlights.
