Waiting for someone who isn't coming.

I keep on expecting a knock to come from my front door yet I know it isn't coming. It's an anxious feeling waiting for someone you know isn't coming. Patience is a waste of time, especially when you want to be patient and wait for a knock that isn't ever coming.
