Last night I finally got around to seeing Terry Gilliam's latest TIDELAND. I had heard nothing but bad things about the film, and it also opened with horrible reviews. I am very scepticle about anything anyone says. Tideland may not be Gilliam's finest hour, but it it still a good hour and forty five minutes of filmaking. It's a small world, stripped of almost any CGI unlike BROTHER GRIMM, TIDELAND is more of a throwback to BARON MUNCHAUSEN or TIME BANDITS with a bit of FEAR AND LOATHING. Jodelle Ferland does a great job as the innocent little girl running around with her headless dolls, and Jeff Bridges does a wondeful job playing a dead junkie. It's a good film and a very Gilliam film.
