milton bradley is insane and my favorite baseball player
oh what? this is why milton bradley is the baddest mother fucker in baseball.
the oakland a's just let him go. wonder to where? i'll keep my hopes up for the guy.
To Bradley, it's very simple. A self-described loner, he considers every line-drive he hits, every "crack" of his bat, the sound of pure, delectable revenge. Even in the outfield he can hear Tupac Shakur lyrics pulsing through head and heart:
"I was born not to make it but I did
The tribulations of a ghetto kid
Still I rise
Still I rise"
"I don't always do things the right way. I don't always follow the rules," Bradley explains. "I'm a different type of person, which makes me interesting. I'm not like everybody else. That's boring. That's just me. It's not right, but that's me."
Bradley's career has also been mired by legal troubles and several notable on-field incidents.
* In June 2004, after being ejected from a game against Milwaukee by umpire Terry Craft, Bradley left his batting glove, bat, and helmet in the batter's box and threw a bag of baseballs from the dugout on to the field.
* In September 2004, reacting from a fan throwing a plastic beer bottle on the field during a home game against the Colorado Rockies, Bradley threw it from the field violently into the front row. Major League Baseball suspended him for five games.
* In October 2004, during a media session for the National League Divisional Series, he called African American Los Angeles Times Reporter Jason Reid an Uncle Tom and "sellout" during a media session in the Dodgers club house after Reid asked a question about how St. Louis Cardinals fans had treated him. However Bradley later apologized to Reid for making the remark and Reid accepted the apology.
* In December 2004, he served three days in jail related to a November incident. Bradley was a passenger in a car that had been stopped for a traffic violation. Bradley exited the vehicle and began arguing with the police. After being asked to return to the vehicle, Bradley refused, and was arrested. He refused to sign the citation and was charged with obstructing official business.
* On January 10, 2006, he filed for divorce from his wife of 11 months, Monique Bradley.
* In 2005, Bradley accused teammate Jeff Kent of discriminating against African Americans after he was criticized by the infielder for not hustling. Kent has denied the charge.
* On October 4, 2006, during the middle of the 4th inning of the 2006 American League Division Series, Bradley threw his water bottle onto a shelf in the dugout. The water bottle knocked over a cup of coffee which landed on the A's starting pitcher of the evening, Esteban Loaiza. The next inning an argument ensued between Bradley and the A's batting coach, Gerald Perry, regarding this minor incident. However, during the next game Perry and Bradley embraced after the latter hit a home run and Bradley and Loaiza were seen joking about the situation.
* On June 21, 2007, he was designated for assignment by the Oakland Athletics after being told he would see decreased playing time as a result of an overcrowded outfield. He was unhappy and according to at least one report he entered a heated discussion with Billy Beane and threw chairs in the clubhouse. A day later, the Athletics worked out a trade to deal him to the Kansas City Royals for Leo Nunez. However, the deal was voided because both teams learned Bradley failed to disclose an oblique injury he suffered during his final at-bat with the Athletics.[1]

Hostel 2 pt. 2
Whoever the lead actress in Hostel 2 is, needs to magically find my number and ask me out to prom. I usually despise the characters in horror films, but the "don weiner" and the lead had me scared shitless in the torture rooms. On the other hand, I was the only person in the room hysterically laughing when Bijou Phillips popped up with a gag ball in her mouth chained to a chair. Hostel 2 somehow humanized the genre leaving you routing for the good guys or girls. I'm sure everyone hates the film, and like I always say, stop taking your life so seriously, scumbuckets.

sciento
L. Ron's son, L. Ron Hubbard, Jr., said in a 1983 Penthouse interview:
"I believed in Satanism. There was no other religion in our house! What a lot of people don't realize is that Scientology is black magic spread out over a long time period. It's stretched out over a lifetime and you don't see it. Black magic is the inner core of Scientology and it is probably the only part that really works. Also, you've got to understand that my father did not worship Satan. He thought he was Satan." (source: Conspiracy Archive)

point loma
lomaland was a college for yoga and humanities started in the early 20th century by theosophist kathrine tingley. it was actually a theosophist commune. they created the first open air greek amphitheatre in california.
from wikipedia:
The Theosophical Society began its settlement on the barren and windswept slopes of Point Loma in 1896. Led by Katherine Tingley, the group came to Point Loma to establish a community that would model the philosophical and humanitarian goals of Theosophy. The "White City" envisioned by Tingley was to be located on the extreme western edge of the North American continent but oriented toward India, the spiritual center of Theosophical beliefs. The blend of new world confidence, Victorian morality, a love of antiquity, and Indian spirituality created a unique community that found its expression in architecture that is still visible on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University.

i'd totally join.

intelligent design debates on and on
how can scientist admit that there are laws of nature and that there is intrinsic logic to our reality, but still call it something less than intelligent. i understand that america was created, and within our constitution is the separation of church and state.
yet how is a law of nature not intelligent? doesn't it take intelligence or in the least judgment to create a law? separate christianity from intelligent design and maybe scientist will take it seriously, or maybe just say fuck you to science in itself at times. it's just as dogmatic as religion at this point in time.

ezra - r.i.p. - spirit of the nye and sea
I was sadly informed this morning that Ezra, Kyle's australian sheep dog had been hit earlier in the day by a car and killed. Ezra was basically the mascot for "calm at the edge of the sea", a local character and spirit of the nye ranch, and for me a feeling of being home. She was gentle, highly intelligent, and more than anything else, a best friend to Kyle. Ezra was a part of every second of the making of "calm", wandering between light strands, licking up whatever was spilled, mingling with new friends, and sometimes taking the edge off when tension was high. She made the final cut of the film, frolicking in what I believe to be the most powerful imagery of the film. Travis the character standing in a field of grass at dusk, staring out at the ocean, Ezra's head pops in and out of frame like a dancing sylph in the ethyr, not being a character in the film itself, but she knew we were up to something magical and wanted to be a part of it. Ez was as close to human as a dog can get, making this all the more difficult to write. I'll miss her, and so will everyone who ever has been to the nye ranch. She is now a spirit of the land and sea, and we will never forget her, for her presence will forever be felt at the nye, and within the heart of the calm at the edge of the sea.
